Oleksandr Pushniak
Born in Kiev, Ukraine, bass-baritone Olesksandr Pushniak graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kiev, where he earned his degree in Music Performance as an opera and concert singer. From 2008 to 2010, he participated in the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists Program in Washington, D.C. (USA), singing a varied number of roles.
In 2012, Oleksandr Pushniak won First Prize and Audience Favorite at the Wagnerstimmen International
Singing Competition for Wagner Voices in Germany and, in 2013 he was invited to sing the role of Donner in Das Rheingold (Wagner) as his debut at the Bayreuth Festival.
Oleksandr Pushniak has in repertoire a true variety of leading opera characters. With his wide vocal range and exciting timbral qualities his bass-baritone roles encompass Scarpia (Tosca), Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Amfortas (Parsifal), Figaro (Mozart „Le nozze di Figaro“), Leporello (Mozart „Don Giovanni), as well as strong baritone roles of Gerard (Andrea Chenier), Amonasro (Aida), Tomsky (Tchaikovsky, "The Queen of Spades").
