Franco-American musician Nastasia, aka crenoka, was initially headed toward academic research in postmodern American literature before being reclaimed by her early idols, Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park, who seemed to appear to her in a dream whispering, “you’re anything but ordinary, on stage is (some)where you belong.”
Raised on 90s pop culture - a universe she regularly references on stage through playful, complicit surveys with her audience - crenoka claims a central influence: early-2000s Madonna (circa 2000 - 2003, hi Mirwais !) This imprint resonates throughout the tracks of her mixtape small eclipse of the heart, where alternative pop meets electronic dance textures. (out in April, 22nd)
Bass in hand, guided by direct and unfiltered writing, crenoka observes the absurdities of human relationships with irony. An irony conceived as a tool of resistance against loneliness, societal pressure, and mental load - and as a deliberate gesture toward connection, aiming to transmit genuine, positive energy to her audience.
