JoyCut is an Italian electronic and dark wave ensemble formed in 2007 in Bologna. The group was established by Pasquale Pezzillo and included Gaël Califano and Matilde Benvenuti. The trio performed as an opening act for bands including Arcade Fire and Editors. The ensemble released its debut studio recording, The Very Strange Tale of Mr. Man, in 2007, followed by Ghost Trees Where To Disappear in 2011. The band performed its first tour of the United States in 2014. Its discography included the albums PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround (2013) and TheBluWave (2022). The ensemble provided the score for a VISA World Cup commercial and had music featured in a Sky Arts television series. The group maintained a sustainable production philosophy, utilizing bio-plastics for packaging and recording the anthem “Clean Planet”. In 2018, the band performed at the Meltdown festival curated by Robert Smith.
