Steve Monite, born in 1961, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter best known for the Afro-boogie hit “Only You”. Released in 1984 and produced by Chief Tony Okoroji for EMI Records Nigeria, the song became a cult classic and is widely regarded as one of the most influential recordings of Nigeria’s 1980s boogie and funk era. He released only one album, Only You (1984). Decades after its original release, Only You gained international recognition through reissues and covers by artists including Frank Ocean and Theophilus London. The album was officially reissued by Soundway Records in 2022, cementing his reputation as a key figure in the history of Nigerian Afro-boogie music.
