Beppe Gambetta is an Italian guitarist and vocalist born on 25 February 1955 in Genoa. Gambetta specialized in acoustic guitar, folk music, and the flatpicking technique. In 1977, his professional career began with the founding of the bluegrass group Red Wine. In 1988, he recorded the album Dialogs, which featured duets with bluegrass musicians such as Norman Blake and Mike Marshall. His subsequent studio recordings included the albums Good News from Home (1995), Serenata (1997), Traversata (2001), and Blu di Genova (2003). Gambetta frequently toured North America and performed at events such as the Walnut Valley Festival and MerleFest. He collaborated with various artists, including Tony McManus, Doc Watson, and Dan Crary. In 2001, he and his wife, Federica Calvino Prina, began organizing the annual Acoustic Night concert series in Genoa. In 2019, the mayor of Genoa named Gambetta a “Global Ambassador of Genoa”. In 2024, he released the self-produced album Terra Madre.
