Pascel Emmanuel "Pat" LaBarbera, born on April 7, 1944 in Mt. Morris, New York, is a Canadian jazz saxophonist. He began playing music at age six with his brothers and studied at Berklee College of Music from 1964 to 1967. LaBarbera's breakthrough came when he joined Buddy Rich's Big Band in 1967, staying until 1973. He also collaborated with Louie Bellson and Woody Herman during this period. In 1974, LaBarbera moved to Toronto and began teaching at Humber College. He continued to collaborate with notable figures such as Elvin Jones, touring Europe in 1979. His album Pass It On was released in 1976, followed by The Wizard in 1978, Necessary Evil in 1981, and On The Wild Side in 2003. LaBarbera received the Juno Award for Best Traditional Jazz Album in 2000 for his CD Deep In A Dream.
