Belenos, a French Celtic black metal group originating from Tréguier, Brittany, was formed in 1995 by Loïc Cellier. The band's unique style, characterized by French lyrics, male choirs, and folk guitar elements, quickly set it apart within the black metal genre. Their debut demo, Notre amour éternel, released in 1996, was well-received and reissued two years later. The group's lineup evolved, with notable members including Denis Sokowicz, Raphaël Fontaine, Yann Desaulty, David Foulon, Guillaume Dallery, Marc Devillers, and Gilles Delecroix. They released several albums, including Errances oniriques (2001), Spicilège (2002), Chemins de souffrance (2007), and Yen Sonn Gardis (2010). The band's music often features a blend of traditional black metal with Celtic influences, as seen in albums like Chants de bataille. In 2010, Yen Sonn Gardis, featuring lyrics entirely in Breton, was released. Two years later, Spicilège was reissued in a remastered edition with bonus live and previously unreleased tracks.
