Johnny Rawls, born September 10, 1951, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is an American soul blues singer and guitarist. He learned guitar from his blind grandfather and played saxophone and clarinet in high school. In the mid-1970s, Rawls joined O.V. Wright’s backing band until Wright died in 1980; the band then continued to tour as the Ace of Spades Band with notable musicians including B.B. King and Little Milton. His debut solo album, Here We Go, was released on JSP Records in 1996. Throughout his career, Rawls has been nominated multiple times for a Blues Music Award and has performed extensively across North America and Europe. Other notable albums include Louisiana Woman (1997), My Turn to Win (1999), Put Your Trust in Me (2000), and Make Them Dance (2025).
