The Sugargliders were an Australian indie pop band from Melbourne, formed in 1989 by brothers Josh and Joel Meadows. The group began performing live in Melbourne pubs, drawing influences from artists like Billy Bragg and the Smiths. Their early singles, including "Sway" (1990) and "Butterfly Soup" (1991), were released on local labels Summershine Records and Marineville. In 1992, they signed with Sarah Records in the UK and toured England, gaining recognition for their melancholic pop sound. Other notable releases include "Ahprahran" (1993) and their compilation album We're All Trying to Get There (1994). The band disbanded in mid-1994 but saw a post-disbandment release with the retrospective album A Nest With a View 1990-1994 in 2012.
