Spicy Roots, a German band from Schwieberdingen, was formed in 1994. The group gained early attention by supporting Laurel Aitken and Desmond Dekker on stage just a year after their formation. In 1997, Spicy Roots released their first EP, Export, under Elmo Records, which featured the hit single "Spirit of ’69". Their debut longplayer, One More (2001), included a cover of Harry Belafonte's "Coconut", leading to extensive tours across Germany and Europe. The band continued their international success with the release of Get Ready in 2006, which led to a tour through Japan in 2008.
