My protest is revolting, every joke is a tiny revolution.
I’m Fercris Hart; that’s an anagram of my birth name, my mom said I’d embarrass the family if I use my real one. I’m a protest singer; my topics sway in the zeitgeist. I like to complain, so it’s a natural fit; when I was small, my father frequently remarked “when they hang you, you’ll complain it’s with a new rope”. Like Joe Strummer, I’m not owned by the left or the right…no one has bought me yet, but I’m open to offers.
I got born, short pants and romance in the Bay Area of California and am fortunate to have heard a lot of great musicians. My earliest influences were Coltrane, Dylan and The Beatles.
Musically, I took up clarinet at six, began guitar at seven, and I play anything I can get my hands on. The sounds I make are to serve my song and aren’t limited by style or genre, so you’ll get a wide variety here.
I’ve sung on street corners and along railroad tracks everywhere, lonely, dusty, hungry, wet and dirty…now I’m in over eighty countries thanks to streaming services and independent radio stations. Currently I reside in San Luis Obispo, CA USA, it's a cool place and I am grateful for my good fortune. Thank you for your support!
