The Gambino Family was an American hip hop group founded in 1997 by Master P, named after the Gambino crime family. The group consisted of four members: Lil Gotti (Lawrence Johnson), Malachi (Melchior Johnson), Pheno (Edward Joseph Bell Jr.), and Reginelli (Reginald Johnson). They made their debut mainstream appearance on the soundtrack to I'm Bout It with the song "Why They Wanna See Me Dead". In 1998, they appeared on several No Limit releases, including Black Mafia by Steady Mobb'n, Give It 2 'Em Raw by Soulja Slim, and There's One in Every Family by Fiend. Their debut album, Ghetto Organized, was released on October 20, 1998, peaking at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The Gambino Family disbanded in 1999, and Malachi and Reginelli continued as a duo known as the Young Guns.
