Robert Deshawn Evans, better known by the stage names Sutter Kain and DJ Bless, is an American rapper and producer from Queens, New York. Growing up in Rochdale Village, Evans initially aimed to become a battle DJ. He relocated to the Carolinas and signed a recording and distribution deal with MCA Records in 2002 at 18 years of age. Following the merger of MCA into Geffen Records, he founded his own record label, Never So Deep Records. His musical style blends East Coast hip-hop with extreme metal-based hip-hop, a style he termed ghetto metal. Under the stage name DJ Bless, he worked with artists including Kanye West, Scott Storch, Sean Combs, and Swizz Beatz, and he produced the track “Tha Beehive” (2003) on Lil' Kim's album La Bella Mafia. He also composed music for the video game EA Sports Fight Night 2005 and worked on the score for the docudrama Hoop Realities (2008). As a recording artist, Evans released several studio albums, including DJ Bless Presents Suicide Kingz, Vol. 1 (1998), DJ Bless Presents Suicide Kingz, Vol. 2 (2002), August Underground: Tha Making of Sutter Kain (2006), A Perfect Murder (2007), A Co-Dependent's Playlist (2011), and Ghetto Metal King (2012). His singles include “Black Tar Heroin” (2009) and “Shoot Her in the Face (Ghetto Metal King)” (2012).
