Took a Break... Dropping Soon!
Upcoming rapper Paid Pat was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Orange Mound, to be exact. Pat, short for Patrick, was raised by his grandmother, who had a significant impact on his life. As a young child, an illness brought him to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where he spent hours listening to 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. He could only ever imagine living a lifestyle similar to them. To this day, Pat continues to give back to St. Jude. In 2016, he became the first of his family to attend college when he enrolled in The University of Memphis. During his college career, Pat started performing around campus and doing a few shows in the city. Since he always had a hustle mentality, he decided to add "Paid" in front of Pat. That is where his stage name, Paid Pat, began.
In 2018, he released his song "Drip Drop," which has 678k views on YouTube. According to Pat, that was the first time he had generated real buzz from his music. He knew that he wanted to focus on his music full time. He later met rapper Waka Flocka Flame one night on Beale St. At the time, and he was unaware that this would be a life-changing moment for him.
"Met Waka Flocka walking with his crew… I asked him for a feature, and while I was talking to him, some girls ran up screaming, thinking they were coming for Waka. They ended up screaming my name and wanted to take a picture with me; Waka said, damn, you really that ni**a, huh?"
Paid Pat received a direct message from Waka after that encounter, and they instantly connected. Flocka soon became like a mentor/big brother to him. Since then, Pat has been preparing to hit the scene with full force.
"I make music for me when I go to the studio. I make music that makes me feel good and helps me get shit off my chest, also, for anyone that's a hustler and can relate to the grind…"
Just like any other emerging artist, Patrick has his favorite artists, such as Polo G, 21 Savage, and TI, to name a few. He stated that he rocks with numerous artists and respects what different artists are currently doing. Pat has worked with other emerging artists such as Lil Migo and Dee Mula. Pat just released his first single of 2021 titled "TrapMixGod," but it won't be stopping there. Fans can expect at least three more single releases before a full project.
