IllScarlett was formed in 2001 in Clarkson, Mississauga, Ontario, by drummer Swavek Piorkowski and vocalist‑guitarist Alex Norman, after meeting at Iona Catholic Secondary School; bassist Daniel Krolikowski later joined, completing the original trio. The band’s first public breakthrough came in 2004 when they performed a generator‑powered set outside the Vans Warped Tour venue in Barrie, Ontario, catching the attention of organizer Kevin Lyman, who invited them to a private barbecue and subsequently booked the band for two years of Warped Tour dates. IllScarlett released the independent iLLP in 2004, followed by the gold‑certified All Day With It in 2007, featuring singles such as "Who's Got It," "Paradise Burning", and "Nothing Special" which originally appeared on the Clearly in Another Fine Mess, and the 1UP! album in 2009 with hits like "Take It for Granted"; the group continued touring across North America, Japan, and Europe, while later releases included the self‑titled illScarlett in 2014, maintaining a notable presence in Canadian rock.
