Chiodos

Chiodos, an American post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan, was formed in 2001 by members who initially performed under the name The Chiodos Bros. They began their career playing shows at Flint Local 432 and released three EPs before changing their name to Chiodos. The original lineup consisted of Craig Owens (vocals), Bradley Bell (keyboards), Pat McManaman (rhythm guitar), Jason Hale (lead guitar), Matt Goddard (bass), and Derrick Frost (drums). The band gained attention in the mid-2000s for its mix of melodic and aggressive vocals, complex song structures, and theatrical presentation. Their debut album, All’s Well That Ends Well (2005), released through Equal Vision Records, became a key release in the post-hardcore and screamo scenes. Their second album, Bone Palace Ballet (2007), debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, reflecting their growing popularity and more elaborate, progressive sound. Following internal tensions, vocalist Craig Owens was dismissed in 2009 and replaced by Brandon Bolmer (formerly of Yesterday’s Rising). With Bolmer, the band released Illuminaudio (2010), which received positive reviews for its refined production and musical maturity. Owens rejoined Chiodos in 2012, leading to their fourth and final album, Devil (2014), which marked a return to their earlier intensity and lyrical themes. After touring for Devil, the group went on indefinite hiatus in 2016, and members pursued separate projects — Owens with badXchannels, Bell with Still No Sign, and others joining new bands or leaving the industry. In 2024, Chiodos reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2005 album All’s Well That Ends Well. The reunion was highlighted by their performance at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas on October 19, 2024, where they played the album in its entirety. Now officially the sole Chiodos member, Craig Owens was joined on tour by musicians of his other projects, including Nicholas Clemenson (drums), Bradley Bell (keyboards), and Matt Goddard (bass), with Jason Hale (guitar) also participating. In July 2025, Chiodos released a re-recorded version of All’s Well That Ends Well, featuring the current lineup, to coincide with the anniversary.
