The Algorithm is the musical project of French musician Rémi Gallego, who was born on October 7, 1989 in Perpignan. After the dissolution of his band Dying Breath, Gallego began looking to produce a more mathcore sound in 2009. He released two demos, The Doppler Effect and Critical Error, that could be downloaded for free on his website. In 2011, The Algorithm performed at the Euroblast Festival and signed with Basick Records. His debut album, Polymorphic Code, was released in November 2012 through Basick Records. The following year, he won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best Underground Artist. In June 2014, The Algorithm released his second studio album, Octopus4. In April 2016, The Algorithm's third album, Brute Force, was published by FiXT. In 2018, he released the fourth album, Compiler Optimization Techniques, and in 2022, the fifth one, Data Renaissance.
