Eron Otcasek is the son of The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. He is in his late 40’s, a Brooklyn dad, and has avoided doing music his whole life.
Born in Newton Mass, Eron spent the first few years of life living in an apartment above a garage, where Ric was crafting the sound that would eventually become The Cars first Album. Eron grew up searching for other creative interests besides music. “My dad was this amazing songwriter and musician. It seemed almost impossible to try and compare." Eron worked briefly as an actor, film-maker, and eventually a creative director in NY, while raising his 2 kids in Brooklyn NY.
"TAKE BACKS", is his debut album. even at the most intense moments “TAKE BACKS” has a laid back vibe. Eron’s lyrics are often minimalist, packing a punch when needed, and the tracks are catchy, yet filler free. The “TAKE BACKS” sessions were recorded over many months between 2021-2022 and were primarily arranged in Otcasek’s makeshift home studio. The songs were eventually tracked by a core group of; Otcasek on vocals and guitar. Bassist, Tim Lappin (of Casual Male. Drummer, Chris Berry (from AJR, and Hot Chip), and producer Abe Seiferth. Andy York (of John Mellencamp's touring group) made a brief cameo on the rockers Spending My Love, and Won’t Go Back To That Girl.
“My dad used to say he wanted to make songs that people could sing along to while they made toast. I thought about that a lot.”
