Shooglenifty, a Scottish Celtic fusion band from Edinburgh, was formed in 1990. The group emerged from the remnants of Swamptrash, a band known for their psycho-bluegrass style. Shooglenifty's unique sound combines traditional folk instruments with electronic elements, creating what they describe as "acid folk." Their debut album, Venus in Tweed, was released in 1994, followed by A Whisky Kiss in 1996. The band's innovative approach includes the use of the Banjax, an electronic five-string banjo developed by Garry Finlayson. Notable albums include Solar Shears (2000), which introduced samplers and electronic sounds, and The Untied Knot (2015). Shooglenifty has performed extensively worldwide, including tours in Germany, Australia, India, and Japan.
