Danish busking duo on a mission to conquer the music world with our debut album "Why Can't I Grow Up?"
Life of a Busker is a Danish independent pop duo consisting of Sarah Johansen and Patrick Thomsen, who have made a living by playing music on the streets in 22 countries around the world. On August 29, 2025, they released their debut album "Why Can’t I Grow Up?" which brings together several years of musical and personal development. The duo has already made a mark amassing nearly 700,000 streams in total, rotation on DRP5, airplay on DRP4, and a performance on danish morning show Go’ Morgen Danmark.
Life of a Buskers soft, melodic pop universe is inspired by artists like JP Saxe, Ed Sheeran, and Gracie Abrams. The songs revolve around relationships, mental health, and the search for one’s place in life, conveyed through honest lyrics and warm vocals. Tracks like "Made of Stone" and "Human" have already resonated with listeners, and the focus track "Too Old to Cry" from their album touches on growing up and trying to balance external expectations with internal emotional struggles.
“I still cry several times a week and felt wrong about it for a long time,” said Sarah, a sentence that sets the tone for the album’s title and theme. "Why Can’t I Grow Up?"is an album about becoming an adult without necessarily being ready for it, about navigating societal expectations while harbouring big dreams for the future, dealing with anxiety and depression, and being in a relationship with one's creative partner.
