SPEED, an Australian hardcore punk band from Sydney, was formed in 2019 by lead vocalist Jem Siow, guitarists Joshua Clayton and Dennis Vichidvongsa, bassist Aaron Siow, and drummer Kane Vardon. In October 2019, SPEED released Demo 19. The following year, they signed with Flatspot Records and released the single "A Dumb Dog Gets Flogged" (2020), followed by the two-track EP 2020 Flex (2020). In June 2022, SPEED released the EP Gang Called Speed, which debuted at number 5 on the ARIA Charts. The lead single from this EP, "Not That Nice", addressed Asian hate crimes and appeared on the soundtrack to the video game WWE 2K24. In July 2024, SPEED released their debut studio album Only One Mode, which won the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album at the 2024 ARIA Music Awards.
