La Rondalla de Saltillo is a Mexican romantic vocal-and-guitar ensemble from Saltillo, Coahuila, formally tied to the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro. Founded in 1966, the group grew out of a student music movement at the then Escuela Superior de Agricultura Antonio Narro, with José Abedrop Dávila recognized among its founding leaders. Built as a university rondalla, its lineup has renewed across generations rather than remaining fixed, helping the project keep its serenade tradition active. La Rondalla de Saltillo recorded early material in 1967 and became closely associated with romantic ballads, boleros, and Latin American love songs arranged for layered male voices and guitars. Its catalog expanded through albums and compilations such as 20 Años de Amor 20 Aniversario in 1987, which included “Hasta Donde Te Quiero,” “Nuestro Aniversario,” and “Para Ti,” and Nuestras Mejores Canciones - 17 Super Éxitos in 1993. Later releases included La Rondalla de Saltillo in 2001, La Rondalla de Saltillo de la Universidad Agraria Antonio Narro in 2003, and the broad retrospective La Rondalla de Saltillo - 45 Aniversario. In 2021, the ensemble was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State of Coahuila, recognizing its long role in Mexican romantic music. La Rondalla de Saltillo remained active in the 2020s with anniversary performances, the 2025 EP Abrazados, and the 2025 single “Como” with Charly Abrego.
