Excel, a crossover thrash band from Venice, California, was founded in 1983 by Dan Clements and Adam Siegel. The group initially formed under the name Chaotic Noise before changing to Excel in 1985. Their early years saw several lineup changes, including the addition of Rickey Pallamino on bass and Greg Saenz on drums. In 1987, Excel released their debut album Split Image, which included the track "Insecurity". The band's second studio album, The Joke's On You, was released in 1989 and featured a cover of The Police's song "Message In A Bottle". Excel gained attention for their energetic live performances and tours across Europe and the United States. However, internal changes led to a shift in musical style and lineup, culminating in the release of Seeking Refuge in 1995. Following the death of guitarist Brandon Rudley in 2000, Excel disbanded.
