Manic grunge-punk. A psychosis of sound that would make your grandad collapse.
Grandad's upcoming single "Music Box" will be released on November 15th and is about the search for one's own identity in relation to the people around you. The song alternates between metaphors sung in melody and shouting in bombastic grunge choruses. Its alternative sound stands out due to the leading role of the bass melody.
Grandad consists of Silver Lovely, Julian Noomen, Jop Fränzel, and Flor Peters. The band started in 2019 under various other names with Julian Noomen, Silver Lovely, and Job Jansen. In late 2023, Jop Fränzel replaced Job Jansen as the guitarist, bringing a fresh new sound to the group. In early 2024, they won a local band competition, earning a spot to perform at the Liberation Festival in Wageningen. Shortly after, they released "Holy Water," their first single with the new lineup. In 2024, they also added saxophonist Flor Peters to further refine their evolving sound.
