Gerd Schaller, born in 1965 in Germany, is a conductor known for his work with classical symphonic music. He studied music at the Würzburg College of Music and began his career as a conductor at the Hanover State Opera in 1993. Schaller became principal conductor at the Brunswick State Theater in 1998 and served as the General Music Director at the Magdeburg Opera from 2003 to 2006. He has since worked freelance with orchestras across Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania. In 1990, he established the Ebrach Summer Music Festival in Franconia, serving as its artistic director. Schaller founded the Philharmonie Festiva in 2008, which has been instrumental in his recordings of Anton Bruckner's symphonies for the Profil label. In 2016, he won the Julio Kilenyi Medal of Honor from the Bruckner Society of America.
