The Del Fuegos were a Boston‑based American rock group formed in 1980, led by brothers Dan Zanes on guitar and vocals and Warren Zanes on guitar, with a lineup that evolved through the 1980s. Their debut album, The Longest Day, was released in 1984 on Slash Records and reached UK Indie number 20; the follow‑up, Boston, Mass., followed in 1985. The band’s breakthrough came in 1986 when "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You" charted and the group appeared in a Miller Beer television commercial, securing a contract with RCA/BMG for their 1989 release Smoking In The Fields, which peaked at U.S. number 139. The group toured extensively, opening for Tom Petty among others. After a brief breakup in 1990 following the departure of Warren Zanes and drummer Woody Giessmann, the band reassembled in 2011 for reunion shows at the Paradise Rock Club, later recording the EP Silver Star in February 2012, which was released on February 21, 2012. Subsequent reunion performances occurred in 2023 and 2024, with a scheduled appearance on September 13, 2025. The Del Fuegos remain noted for their contribution to 1980s garage‑style rock and their enduring regional influence.
