Crystal Lake is a Japanese metalcore band formed in 2002 in Tokyo, Japan, by lead guitarist Yudai "YD" Miyamoto and original lead vocalist Kentaro Nishimura. The band released their debut demo Freewill in February 2003, followed by a self-released extended play also titled Freewill in September 2003, and toured Japan alongside Australian band Day of Contempt. They released their debut studio album Dimension on July 5, 2006, through Imperium Recordings, followed by their second studio album Into the Great Beyond on November 3, 2010. Following Nishimura's departure in 2011, Ryo Kinoshita joined as lead vocalist in 2012. The band released the extended play Cubes on August 6, 2014, through Cube Records, reaching number 45 on the Oricon Albums Chart and number 5 on the Oricon Weekly Indie Chart. Crystal Lake signed international distribution deals with Artery Recordings and JPU Records in 2015, releasing their third studio album The Sign on October 7, 2015, which reached number 36 on the Oricon Albums Chart, followed by their fourth studio album True North in November 2016. In 2018, they signed with SharpTone Records and released their fifth studio album Helix on November 28, 2018, subsequently joining August Burns Red on tour in 2019. They released the re-recorded compilation album The Voyages on August 5, 2020, and the single “Curse” on July 14, 2021. Kinoshita departed in September 2022 and was succeeded by John Robert Centorrino in March 2023. Crystal Lake released their sixth studio album The Weight of Sound on January 23, 2026, through Century Media Records. Centorrino departed in March 2026, and PK joined as lead vocalist in August 2026.
