Inhumate, a French grindcore and death metal band from Brumath, Alsace, was formed in 1988 under the name Cruxifère. The group released their first demo, Abstract Suffering, in 1993 and underwent several name changes before settling on Inhumate in 1994. Their debut album, Internal Life, was released in 1996, followed by Ex-Pulsion in 1997 and Growth in 2000. Inhumate's fourth album, Life, was released in 2004 as part of a planned heptalogy concept. The band performed at notable festivals such as the Soul Grinding Festival VII in February 2007 and the Death Feast Open Air in June 2008. Inhumate's fifth album, The Fifth Season, was released in 2009 and featured collaborations with Franck George and Eric Kaija Guerrier from Weepers Circus. Their sixth album, Expulsed, was released in 2013, marking a shift towards grindcore, followed by Eternal Life in 2021. Inhumate concluded its 35-year career with a final concert at Molodoï in Strasbourg on November 8, 2025.
