Mucca Pazza, an interdisciplinary ensemble formed in Chicago in 2004, emerged from the Redmoon Theater collective and early rehearsals in a steel mill parking lot. They were known for their energetic performances while playing in mismatched band uniforms. Their debut release, A Little Marching Band, appeared in 2006, followed by Plays Well Together in 2008, Safety Fifth in 2012, and L.Y.A. in 2014, showcasing their brass‑band foundation with electric guitar, mandolin, and accordion. Collaborations included performances with the Chicago Sinfonietta, the dance company Pilobolus, and an opening for “Weird Al” Yankovic at Ravinia. In 2023, Mucca Pazza released GET PUMPED!, cementing their role in contemporary American marching‑band and performance music.
