Holocausto Canibal, a Portuguese goregrind band from Rio Tinto, was formed in 1997 by bassist Z. Pedro, vocalist Ricardo S., guitarist Nuno P., and drummer J. Lamelas. Inspired by Ruggero Deodato’s cult horror movie Cannibal Holocaust, the group released their first demo, oPus I, in 1998. Their debut album, Gonorreia Visceral, was released in February 2000 via So Die Music, featuring gory artwork designed with true photos. In 2002, the band achieved international recognition with their second full-length album, Sublime Massacre Corpóreo. The group played their first shows outside Portugal and Spain at Fuck The Commerce VII in Germany in 2004, followed by Obscene Extreme Fest in the Czech Republic in 2005. Their third album, Opusgenitalia, was released in 2006 via the German label Cudgel Agency. Throughout their career, the band continued to release recordings such as Gorefilia (2012), the EP Larvas (2014), and the studio albums Catalépsia Necrótica (2017) and Crueza Ferina (2022).
