The Newcranes

The Newcranes is an English folk punk band formed in Derby, England. They quickly gained traction on the early 1990s touring circuit and signed with French label Musidisc Records. Their debut mini-album Frontline (1992) garnered critical acclaim. They supported notable acts such as Bob Dylan and The Saw Doctors, and released several singles before disbanding in 1996 due to line-up changes. In 2018, principal songwriter Mark Simpson, along with bass player Bob Rushton and drummer Marcus Carter, decided to reignite the band following a fan campaign. They recruited Jonny Wallis and Julian Butt, playing their first reunion show at The Venue in Derby in 2019. They released the album See You Next Tuesday (2022) and their long-awaited full album Sing to the End of the World (2024), featuring new violinist Fi Fraser.
