New single coming out April 30th!
Pin Stripes is swedish duo writing songs about dreams of Americana, The roadtrip with the challenger, a lonely walk in the Arizona desert, the coyote calls in the rocky mountains.
The duo started out in 2016 by playing their favourite american songs, while developing their own unique sound. Classics from Bob Dylan, Bob Seger and Chuck Berry were mixed with Rolling Stones, Elvis and Scott H Biram.
The debut EP for Pin Stripes, ”Let me be me”, was recorded in Nordic Soundlab in Skara, Sweden in January 2019. Sound engineer and mixer was Mikko Viitala, known from The Perfect Mess. ”Billy” is a cover of Bob Dylan’s song from the soundtrack to Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. The rest of the tunes are Pin Stripes originals.
In April 2020 the first full length album ”Everybody else is taken” was released. Also cut at Nordic Sound Lab with Mikko Viitala mixing and recording. The album features 10 original songs. The last song ”The World Keeps Turning” was recorded in the Pin Stripes rehearsal space with an old Tascam portable tape studio recorder.
This old tape recorder has become an integral part of the band now, and in December 2020 a second full length album called ”These Dark Streets” was released. It was recorded entirely by the band themselves in their rehearsal studio. The songs were performed live. A few add-ons were added to each track. The album is heavily influenced by the mood created by the pandemic, even though the songs deal with other subjects.
In all Pin Stripes songs, there is a bit of misery lingering for some reason. It’s not intentional, it’s just the way it goes. The song “No Way But Up” on the EP “Eyes so Blue” was an effort to write an up-beat tune to give some balance to the mood in the discography. Even though it’s a positive message, the song is still about getting rid of the blues and moving on.
A new record is on the way during 2021, with the first single scheduled for release on April 30th. Stay tuned by following us on Twitter and of course on Deezer.
