Praised for her temper and elegance in her playing, the franco-Romanian pianist gives recitals throughout Europe as well as in Argentina, Australia, Japan and the United States. Her numerous recordings have earned her rave reviews from the press, who do not hesitate to compare her to Argerich or Arrau.
Mara Dobresco is invited to play solo or in chamber orchestra with the best musicians of her generations in prestigious recital halls like Mogador Theater, the Philharmonic, La Scala Paris, Châtelet Theater, Orsay museum, Paris Salle Cortot, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Théâtre de la Monnaie, the Bozar in Brussels, or the Grand Théâtre de Provence along with big festivals as La Roque D’Anthéron, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Aix en Provence festival, LillePiano(s) Festival, Chopin in Châteauroux, Paris Salle Pleyel, Nohant Festival, Orangerie de Bagatelle Chopin Festival, and “Green classical” Festival.
Mara Dobresco has made her own way in the current musical landscape, proposing numerous projects based on the intersection of theatre, choreography, literature, and photography.
Her last projects brought her to collab with many artists like the comedian Dénis Lavant and the director Volodia Serre, the choregraph Béatrice Massin, the cineasts Claus Drexel and Radu Mihaileanu and the photograph Éric Sanger Monteros.
A keen interpreter of the contemporary repertoire, she regularly collaborates with numerous composers: Philippe Hersant, Franck Villard, Philippe Leroux, Gyorgy Kurtag and Oscar Strasnoy, who has made her the dedicatee of several of his works.
Mara Dobresco is always looking to enrich her repertoires, thanks to new musical and human experiences that give her the opportunity to play with ensembles that are close to her heart, such as the Quatuor Face à Face (2 pianos, 2 percussion instruments) and more recently the Ensemble K (an ensemble of solo musicians directed by Simone Menezes).
Mara Dobresco is also a scholarship holder of the Yamaha, Meyer, Tarazzi and Nadia and Lili Boulanger Foundations and receives advice and support from Martha Argerich, Dominique Merlet, as well as Jean-Claude Pennetier and Pierre-Laurent Aimard with whom she has performed in four-handed concerts.
Her latest album Soleils de nuit (Paraty) was a huge success and received excellent reviews from the specialist press.
