Norwegian pop star Metteson's shimmering, emotionally literate music has been described as “kaleidoscopic pop” by The Guardian and "a gorgeous synth-pop symphony of devotion" by i-D. His live reputation is swelling too thanks to his electrifying blend of pop star dynamism and theatrical grandeur. He packed 2,000 fans into an Oslo hometown show, supported fellow Norwegian pop alchemist Aurora on tour, and was booked by Christine and the Queens for this year's Meltdown Festival. He also sold out his first London headline concert at The Lexington, which was co-promoted by queer arts collective The Chateau. "Being queer informs my fashion choices, my imagery and the way I express myself," he says. "I hope I have a sensibility that is open to otherness. I want my concerts to be spaces where people can feel whatever it is that they need to feel." Metteson will tour Europe this Spring for his biggest headline tour, playing shows in London, Stockholm and a sold-out show in Oslo.
The galvanising energy exchange between audience and performer informs every song on "Look to a Star", Metteson's brilliant, life-affirming debut album. "These songs are made to convey a sense of hope and joy in coming together," he says. Metteson's fierce belief in the power of imagination informs everything he does, from his transcendent live shows to avant-garde visuals. The spectacular video for lead single "Look To A Star" was conceptualised, directed and styled by Metteson, and showcases the extraordinary theatricality of the Norwegian pop star. Becoming renowned for live choreography and immaculate dance qualities, the video is “a magic film with three layers". Working with some of Norway's most celebrated new talent, Metteson brings new fans into his fantastical world.
