Obtest, a pagan metal band from Vilnius, Lithuania, was founded in 1992. The band's lyrics, sung exclusively in Lithuanian, focused on themes of litauische history, mythology, war, and religion. The group initially played death metal but later transitioned to black metal, incorporating elements of folk, power metal, and hard rock. Their first demo, Oldness Comming, was released in 1995, followed by their debut album, Tūkstantmetis, in 1997. The band's second album, Auka Seniems Dievams, was released in 2001 and featured a mix of traditional power metal and hard rock influences. Obtest toured extensively throughout Europe between 2000 and 2002, including performances as the opening act for Eminenz in Germany. In 2008, the band released Gyvybės medis under Osmose Productions and Ledo Takas Records.
