Obscure Sphinx, a Polish post-metal band, was formed in 2008 by brothers Mateusz "Werbel" Badacz and Bartosz "Bartek" Badacz. By late 2009, they released their first two demo EPs, Part of Unexisting Space and Blinded by the Light. Their debut album, Anaesthetic Inhalation Ritual, was released in 2011 and won the New Blood Award at the Summer Breeze festival in 2012. This victory brought international attention and collaborations with bands like Dirge and Rosetta. Subsequent albums, including Void Mother (2013) and Epitaphs (2016), received critical acclaim for blending post-metal with other genres. In 2020, they released the live album Thaumaturgy I. The band has toured extensively across Europe, performing at major festivals like Castle Party and Brutal Assault.
