Somne (Federico Maccherone) is a Milan-based producer, DJ, and sound designer celebrated for his emotive and intricate approach to techno. His music blends driving techno with cinematic, atmospheric textures, crafting a dynamic sound that moves between dark and uplifting, experimental and club-oriented. Somne has collaborated with prestigious labels such as Nonplus+, Life and Death, Afterlife, Just This, Deutsche Grammophon, and his own Aura Dinamica imprint, where his creative vision shines through.
In 2018, Somne co-founded Aura Dinamica with British artist Portrait, where he has honed his sound, merging modern techno with emotive depth. His 2019 EP Risveglio Di Una Città is a prime example, inspired by early 20th-century Milanese futurism, blending experimental sounds with techno grooves.
Somne's debut album, Ostinati Ritmici (2020), emerged during the pandemic lockdown and solidified his reputation as a purist techno artist. The album’s eight tracks explore hypnotic rhythms, intricate sound design, and emotional resonance, featuring collaborations with Atoloi and Wrong Assessment. It is a testament to his ability to combine technical precision with a deep, evocative narrative.
In 2024, Somne returned with the New Energy EP, a floor-focused release that explores lush synths, breakbeats, and sharp sound design. The EP continues to push the boundaries of his sound while maintaining his signature atmospheric intensity.
