Acid Bath, an American sludge metal band from Houma, Louisiana, formed in 1991. The group initially comprised members of Dark Karnival and Golgotha, including Audie Pitre on bass. Acid Bath's unique sound blended doom metal with elements of hardcore punk, death metal, gothic rock, blues, grunge, and Southern rock. Their debut album When the Kite String Pops was released in 1994 under Rotten Records, followed by Paegan Terrorism Tactics in 1996. The band's career ended abruptly in January 1997, when bassist Audie Pitre and his parents were killed in a traffic collision.
