The module was founded in Germany in 1994. The band was formed as a dance project by producers Felix J. Gauder and Olaf Roberto Bossi. The first members are the singer Yasemin Baysal and the performer Dierk Schmidt. Modul works in the field of Eurodance and dance-pop and is one of the formative acts of the German 1990s. The project began in 1995 with the release of the single "Computerliebe" (1995). The song is a cover version of an NDW title and reaches the top 10 in the German and Austrian charts as well as the top 20 in Switzerland. The single sells around 440,000 copies and is certified gold. In the same year, "Kleine Maus" (1995) and "1100101" (1996) follow, which also achieve high chart positions. 1996 sees the release of the single "Frühlingsgefühle" (1996), which reaches the Top 30 in several countries. Also in 1996, "Robby Roboter" (1996) followed, which only charted in Germany. The line-up changes several times. In 1996, Denise Hemmely replaces singer Yasemin Baysal. In 1998, Keren Mej appears as another voice. This year sees the release of "Ich will" (1998), which, however, does not achieve a chart position. A remake of the debut single followed in 2001 with "Computerliebe 7.1" (2001). New releases remain rare. It was not until 2023 that Das Modul returned with new songs such as "*www.christkind.com*" (2023) and "Virus" (2025). The repertoire includes Eurodance, techno and pop. Stylistically, the band combines catchy choruses with electronic beats.
