UHF was a Portuguese rock ensemble formed in Almada in the late 1970s. The initial lineup included António Manuel Ribeiro, Renato Gomes, Carlos Peres, and Américo Manuel. The group performed as a cover band named Purple Legion before adopting the name UHF. The ensemble toured Portugal from north to south in 1979 and released the social intervention recording “Jorge Morreu” that October. The group performed as a driving force in the Portuguese rock movement of the early 1980s. Its discography included the studio recordings À Flor da Pele (1981), Estou de Passagem (1982), and Persona Non Grata (1982). The ensemble celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2014. Ribeiro remained the leader and sole original member of the ensemble. The group released the studio album A Minha Geração in 2013 and the compilation 300 Canções in 2014.
