Alternative pop group Yumi Zouma began as a long-distance home-recording project between friends online. The release of ‘EP I’ in 2014 and ‘EP II’ in 2015 saw the band embraced by the blogosphere, and handpicked to tour with the likes of Lorde before having held a band practice together.
In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album, 'Yoncalla', after being invited by Philippe Zdar to work at his Motorbass studio in Paris. Their second full-length, 'Willowbank', was recorded at home in New Zealand, and released in 2017 as a more organic take on the electropop of their debut.
The band completed a trilogy of EPs with the release of ‘EP III’ in 2018, before the band's third album, 'Truth or Consequences', was released on March 13th 2020, the day that COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
After cancelling their touring plans and releasing the re-arranged 'Truth or Consequences - Alternate Versions' in October 2020, the band set to work on producing their next record.
Following months of studio sessions in between Los Angeles, London, Florence, and New Zealand, the fourth studio album 'Present Tense' was announced, following the release of singles 'Give It Hell' and 'Mona Lisa' in late 2021, and 'In The Eyes Of Our Love' in January 2022.
