Leo Costa - Brazilian acoustic guitar player and producer.
Leo Costa is a brazilian acoustic guitarist with a solid work as a composer, instrumentalist, arranger as well as music producer for over 15 years. His production has been praised by important brazilian musical references as Swami Jr., Filó Machado, Ivan Vilela e Tavito.
“Leo Costa” (2018) is his first album with live recorded studio tracks and video-clips. It shows both individually and ensemble formation playing with excellent musicians: Rodrigo Digão Braz (drums), Marcos Paiva (bass) Amina Mezaache (flute) and Muari Vieira (acoustic guitar).
Leo has been produced some brazilian contemporary songsingwriters’ albums like “Tempos de Canção” (Álvaro Cueva) and “Estação Felicidade” (Augusto Teixeira) featuring Zeca Baleiro, Ceumar and Alexandre Ribeiro.
He has also received from the brazilian government the award “Prêmio Funarte de Música Brasileira” with his acoustic guitar collective called “Comboio de Cordas”. In his hometown he is one of the founders of “Ponto de Cultura de Torrinha”, that consists in musical education, a small guitar orchestra and workshops for building handmade ‘rustic’ guitar (viola caipira).
Leo is a member of Cia Raso da Catarina, a Brazilian circus company, where he acts as musical director, guitar player and arranger in the show “O Circo Chegou”.
In 2020 release the EP “Amina Mezaache & Leo Costa”, a partnership with french flutist Amina which began in 2014 in France and was recorded after in Brazil.
He’s currently working on a new album called “Um Mundo Em Nós” in a partnership with Leo Nogueira and Augusto Teixeira. The project presents songs of Leo Nogueiras’s partners bringing more than 40 guests and musical professionals as Zeca Baleiro, Virgínia Rosa, Ilessi, Carla Casarim, Chico Salem, Kleber Albuquerque, among others.
