Allison Wheeler is a vocalist, songwriter and teacher from California. Named “Undergraduate
Vocal Soloist of the Year” by DownBeat Magazine in 2018, she is a rising talent now based in
the Czech Republic and set to release her debut album winterspring on Ubuntu Music this
summer. winterspring features leading Czech pianist Daniel Bulatkin and his trio, Max Makagonov on double bass, Petr Nohavica on drums with guests David Dorůžka on guitar and Luboš Soukup on saxophone and clarinet.
A storyteller at heart, Wheeler uses her jazz and visual art backgrounds to construct a world of her own imagination fuelled by improvisation, nostalgia and a love for impressionism. Her music and singing style seamlessly cross genre lines, drawing influence from the likes of Regina Spektor, Norma Winstone, Fiona Apple, Aoife O’Donovan and others.
