Moses Motau also known as DJ Moscow, is a South African Dj and Producer. With his intrinsic music knowledge, Moscow mainly focuses on the Amapiano and Afro Tech genres. He has a unique sound embodied with soulful harmonies.
Hailing from the Mpumalanga province, his love for music started in primary school. Moscow recalls a time in primary school where he’d play on the school desks making beats such as “casablanca”. With every pound, clap and slap, he became the classroom musician. In his late teenage years, his passion for music grew even more. Moscow started encompassing himself in different types of emotions through music; happy, sad, excitement and hope. These themes played an intricate part in his journey as they shaped him into the dj that he became. Moscow started getting bookings at local parties and events within the Mpumalanga province. During this time, he was playing using a laptop and only in 2009 did Moscow learn his way around CDJs.
He was nicknamed Moscow from his name Moses after hosting a one man show in 2010. This eventful incident was a turning point in his career. Shortly after gaining recognition with the locals, Moscow ventured into musical theory studies at Boston City College to expand his knowledge about music. Around this time he gained mentorship from Musical Chef and Shaun 101 who were under Soul Candy in 2013.
Today, Moscow has mastered his art in creating powerful sonic experiences. His lives up to his name, just as Moses from the bible lead many into a better place , Moses Motau aka Moscow has proven to be a leader of his music and continues to touch people through his songs.
