Midnight Darkwave is a project that started with music producer Alan, with his pseudo name Lord Sigdur, Alan has worked with music production since 2017 with numerous projects. In 2022, he met Astrid Schneider, a German keyboardist who loves EBM, and they started playing blutengel covers. Even though Sigdur is a professional musician, the EBM project began more as a hobby of playing covers. And at the beginning of 2022, Sigdur and Astrid start composing their songs, with the help of other people to make vocal variations. And then they finished their first album called Vampiristic Darkwave, with help from Howard Lewis, Adam Zimmer doing vocals on some songs and Sigdur as the main vocalist. And then the group decides not to release the album, but to wait for more content, as Sigdur has other musical projects, he decided to wait for more content, to release a lot of stuff on YouTube and Spotify so the algorithm can recommend the band, since today Nowadays digital platforms are the best marketing.
So between 2022 and 2024 the group composed the albums, Vampiristic Darkwave, The Vampire Count, Durstig nach Blut and Vampire from Darkness. With a total focus on vampirism, as it is the theme that the group likes most. In 2024 the group decided to start releasing content, and it was a success, in just one month the band managed to gain 2,000 subscribers on YouTube. And then Vlad joins the project, pseudo name Heinrich. And so the band decides not to be just a band, but to expand. Sigdur then establishes partnerships with other bands and musicians to help increase the music catalogue, and finally they have the necessary material to create a radio on YouTube, but only with songs from the label itself.
The inspiration to create a radio comes from the lofi girl channel that was the first to do this on YouTube, a label that only uses its content on a live YouTube radio. And that was our first objective. In our minds, this was the best promotion we had. Today we have already received an invitation to tour and play live And then we released the real album we wrote this year, Yesteryears. This album we decided to leave EBM aside a little and focus on 80s darkwave. And what a masterpiece we achieved, we are very proud of how good the album turned out and now we are closing partnerships to release this album on vinyl.
We are now working on t-shirts, CDs and vinyl. We believe that in this project we managed to start in the right way and thanks to the support of listeners, we will continue on this path.
