Classically trained jazz improvisor Charles Segal practiced the art of piano for over half a century. Loved all over the world, multi-talented Charles Segal received many honors and awards - including Grammys in his native South Africa, where he won a SARI for Song of the Year for his country song, "My Children, My Wife."
Whether it's his acclaimed children's music and full length musicals, romantic melodies, upbeat jazz or relaxing tunes, Charles had a unique and intuitive talent that continues to move all who listen.
Born in Lithuania, he was raised in South Africa, where he became a celebrity pianist and a prolific composer of over 1,000 songs, including many now traditional South African songs. Charles was the featured performer on over 200 commercial albums.
He was a founding member of the South Africa Music Rights Organization (SAMRO) as a composer and a publisher. He was also a regular performer on the SABC networks. Charles Segal Music School was the largest one of its kind in South Africa and Charles continued to teach talented and deserving students once he moved to the USA in 1986. He is also a member of BMI.
