Little Black Book describes Jobie as an artist that "unleashed the kind of energy that enamoured an entire theatre”. After watching his performance for Pride In London at the Adelphi Theatre on the Westend, they commented on Jobie’s performance saying “You could see how liberated he felt on that stage”. With another year down into his solo career, Jobie has a range of singles he enjoys to perform, and having dipped into disco/dance music with his producer A-Siege, he can express himself in a more diverse way through his writing.
Having performed as a backing singer for The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice, Jobie is no stranger to live performances and the pressure of telling a story through music and emotion. As the son of a musical director who toured Europe with The Rocky Horror Show and many other shows over the last 30 years, he was immersed in the atmosphere of live music from a young age.
Discovering his sound helped him to put together a collection of songs that represent darkness, providing us with pop songs designed to evoke emotion, and spark conversation about typically taboo subjects such as mental health. There is a spark of light with his latest single ‘Come Alive’ written by Jobie & A-Siege to “extend summer and dive into a new world of music.
Currently preparing for the release of his song ‘Me’ in December, shortly followed by his debut EP in early 2024, Jobie is planning an emotional trip down memory lane with a body of work that demonstrates the lowest time in his life. With an unapologetically somber approach to this new project, he says to expect the vocally focused music to take you on an emotional rollercoaster, navigating you through a series of events that inevitably lead to a series of mental health struggles. “I’ve decided to be unfiltered, and as raw as possible. Production on these tracks will be exquisitely done, but minimalistic. I’m excited to share this side of my writing, as it actually is a demonstration of what I consider to be my bread and butter, sad songs.
