Ricky Lamar Hawk est né le 22 janvier 1998 à Conyers (Géorgie). A dix-sept ans, il atteint une notoriété soudaine lorsque deux millions et demi d'étasuniens regardent le clip de sa chanson « Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) » sur la chaîne YouTube de l'apprenti rappeur désormais connu en tant que Silentó. Ce fulgurant succès se traduit par une troisième position de sa chanson au Billboard début 2015. Le Canada, l'Australie, la Grande-Bretagne, l'Allemagne et la France succombent tour à tour à son rap pop d'une fraicheur immaculée. Silentó est nommé aux Kids Choice Awards 2015 pour cette chanson.
