Steve Ravensfield is a singer / songwriter from the Midlands, England.
“The voice and the lyric in a Steve Ravensfield song does that curious thing that people in my business always look for, they bypass the brain and go straight to the soul. A wealth of life experience lies in the composition” – Gavin Monaghan, Producer, Magic Garden Recording Studio, UK.
Grew up listening to what my brother listened to, 70s classic rock / prog rock. Influences include, in no particular order: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Norah Jones, Nick Cave, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Cornell, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton, Lana Del Ray, to name just a few - it is and endless list.
Self-taught guitarist who dabbled in song writing until the early nineties, and then started to engage more seriously.
In the late 90s, Steve created two albums a few years apart - neither officially released, one called ‘The Gate’ and the other ‘Garden Of Morphine’. The second album ‘Garden Of Morphine’ had lots of interest and a tentative offer of a recording contract, but due band commitments / dynamics and internal record company circumstances beyond his control, the deal fell through.
As a result of this, Steve took a break from creating music, with only a brief return in 2002 to record four songs for an E.P called ‘Escape’. It was in 2016 that he came back reenergised and with the album ‘Broken Diamonds’, from which the single ‘No More Love’ was released and received a lot of air play. In 2017, he released the album ‘Into The Next Life’, and the single from it ‘Keep On Movin’ which again had a lot of air play. Steve played the Jam House, Birmingham in May 2018 at a well-received showcase for artists and bands that have worked with Gavin Monaghan from Magic Garden Recording Studio, UK,
Steve took a year out from writing and recording in 2018, but in 2019 he went back in the studio and recently finished record songs for his new album ‘Salvation’ released early 2020. Steve did a live session on Black Country Radio in October and performed tracks from the album, including the first single from it called ‘Hallelujah’, which was officially released on November 8th of that year.
Then we all know how insane things got, which put a hold on pretty much everything!
Steve is currently working on new material and all being well, will be heading back into the studio.
