“I want to create music that inspires people the way I was impacted by singers growing up,” muses 20-year-old indie-Pop artist Lucy Cloud. Unsure at first if Nashville-based Belmont University – or even college in general – was the right choice, the songwriting major admits, “Now that I’m here, I’ve learned I don’t really know anything and now that I’m learning everything, I’m really happy I ended up here.” During one of her first writing sessions in Nashville, “Crash and Learn,” was born with writers Seth Mosley (for KING & COUNTRY, MercyMe) and Justin Morgan (Runaway June, Lauren Duski). Discovered by Kevin Jonas, Sr. of Jonas Group Ent and facing a budding music career, she confesses, “It’s definitely more mature and hopefully a lot of people will be able to relate to it. I’ve been songwriting since I was very young, and it was always an easier way to deal with my emotions.” Cloud penned her first song at 11 years old, with her childhood soundtrack booming genre-crossing artists Corinne Bailey Rae, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Whitney Houston. Nowadays, she boldly draws inspiration from bada$$ females like Noah Cyrus, H.E.R, Ariana Grande, and Lauryn Hill, to create her own vibey indie-Pop sound. Already making a statement, Cloud independently debuted “Your Loss” and follow-up “Jealous” last year – which tacked high-profile MTV Live and MTV Spankin’ New music video playlists, while she’s amassed over 800K Spotify streams and counting. Making a statement with her last song “Crash and Learn,” Lucy made it through the first round of Nashville’s Lightning 100’s Music City Mayhem Contest, and the song went on to be placed in two network television shows including The CW’s “Charmed” and “Good Sam” on CBS. “Crash and Learn” was also featured on Sirius XM radio’s The Pulse.
